The Simple Beauty

Have you ever taken a moment to look around and experience the simple beauty of the world?  There is so much beauty in this world that goes unnoticed and ignored.   I strive to see this beauty and attempt to capture it through my photography.

I am not a professional photographer by any words; I have never taken a class or received any training in the art but I do have a love and a passion for it.  Over the past few weeks, I have had a tugging at my heart to show my photographs somewhere others can see and enjoy my view of the world through a camera lens.  I have attempted to display photographs in local art shows and now created a blog using some of my favorite photos taken over the years.  This blog is meant to provide an opportunity for others to look around, take a moment, and enjoy the "simple beauty" of the world around us.

"The Simple Beauty", 2012
Montana
This photograph, "The Simple Beauty" was taken on a recent family trip out west.  We were traveling out of Yellowstone National Park on our way to the Beartooth Pass and stopped for a roadside picnic.  Upon stopping at a random pull off on the highway, we gathered together our lunches and ventured outdoors to eat, fish in a nearby river, and enjoy the wonderful fresh air of the countryside.   As my family settled into the outdoor activities, I grabbed my camera to see what photos I could capture.  "The Simple Beauty" is one of several pieces I captured during our stop.  I was drawn to the beauty and contrast seen between the rocks and flowers along side the river bed.  The differences in colors and the way the purple stood out against the canvas of the rocks behind led me to snap a few photos of this composition.  This photo has become one of my favorite pieces.   I love the symmetry of the cow tails and grass as well as the harmony between the hard and the soft - it just works.

This simple beauty may have gone unnoticed by a passerby on the highway.  It could have been unnoticed by the fishermen eager to catch that peaceful time of connecting with the water and the surroundings.  All it took, was someone looking beyond the "obvious beauty" and searching for the "simple beauty" in life.

I encourage each of you to take that little extra time to seek out the "simple beauty" that surrounds us all.
